Things to Do
If you’re coming all this way, stay a few extra days. Here are some of our favorites.
Glacier National Park
Going-to-the-Sun Road
The park's iconic drive. In mid-June the alpine section may still be closing for snow, and the park has used vehicle reservations in recent summers — check nps.gov/glac before you go.
Lake McDonald
Colorful stones, glassy water, about an hour from Somers.
Trail of the Cedars & Avalanche Lake
An easy, beautiful hike for all levels.
Flathead Lake
Get on the water
Rent a boat, paddleboard, or kayak — the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.
Wild Horse Island
A state park reachable by boat, with wild horses and bighorn sheep.
Bigfork village
Galleries, shops, and restaurants on the bay.
Around the Valley
Whitefish
Walkable downtown, Whitefish Lake, and summer lift rides on the mountain.
Jewel Basin
Alpine lakes and wildflower hikes in the Swan Range.
Downtown Kalispell
Breweries, coffee, and the Conrad Mansion museum.
